Beach-side Living Comes On Stream At Praa Sands

Construction of Clipper Cove, a development of luxury apartments in a stunning coastal location at Praa Sands, has now been completed.  The former White House Hotel at Praa Sands was demolished to make way for a luxury apartment development incorporating sustainable energy features.

The hotel had lain derelict for a number of years. It was built in the 1930s, when it was regarded as a classic example of the art deco style of the time, characterised by precise and boldly delineated geometric shapes and colours.

In its place a three-storey complex of 12 apartments has been built, known as Clipper Cove.   In a quiet setting away from the tourist trail, Clipper Cove has breathtaking panoramic ocean views and the apartments feature spacious open-plan living areas, generous bedrooms and plenty of light throughout for the ultimate beach-side living experience.  Overlooking a vast unspoilt stretch of beach in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Purchasers can enjoy this environment whilst helping to protect it through designs that incorporate the latest ecologically sensitive technology.  The project includes a “green” hot water and heating system through two ground source heat pumps. These build up the heat via boreholes to supply underfloor heating and hot water cylinders.

Other eco-friendly features include construction of the superstructure with larger than usual size of timber frame, to facilitate increased depth of thermal insulation. The insulation in the walls is recycled newspaper.

To celebrate completion of Clipper Cove and to thank all the employees and sub-contractors involved, St Piran Homes arranged for a special site delivery of St Piran Ale beer donated by Truro-based Skinners Brewery.
